A JAWSOME way to start the Irish Nationals for TEAM TSC
The Irish AGE Group & Summer OPEN Championships opened today in the National Aquatic Centre and a 18 Strong TEAM of Templeogue Swimmers will participate in the event. The picture above is by our very own Niamh Murphy and represents a great Theme for the Athletes this weekend.
Tonight was the first night of racing and saw ALL 4 athletes racing the distance events convert PB’s in the first night of racing.
Jessica Burke (14) and Nicole Walshe (15) were first in the water with Burke taking a full 20+ seconds off her PB to finish in 9th place in her age group in a relatively new event for her, while Walshe, despite recent injury also converted a PB to finish in 12th place in her event.
In the boys event Jamie Flanagan (12) smashed a HUGE PB in the 1500FC as he put together a strong swim to finish in 18th place in the 13&U event having only qualified for the event at the Division 2’s in Limerick 2 weeks ago. This caps a strong year for Flanagan who has made big improvements throughout the season. Eoin Feighan (16) also set himself a strong new PB as he finished in 16th place in his event with a typically well paced and judged effort for him on the night.
Whilst Flanagan is now finished racing for the season, Feighan, Walshe & Burke return for the weekend to race multiple other swims.
After being asked by the athletes to resurrect our Daily Theme cards for these events, the athletes who raced or warmed up today got the first in a series of 5 for the event, to help keep them focused on some key performance messages, and to enhance their overall JAWSOME..NESS
