About Me
Hello, I’m Brian Sweeney, a Swim Coach in Dublin and the Head Coach of Templeogue Swim Club (www.teamtsc.net) and a Career recruiter with The People Group and a core specialisation of Sales, Marketing, Commercial & Digital Recruitment.
TEAMTSCCOACH is my musings and thoughts on ALL things Swimming and a few bits more. My predominant writing is on Swimming in Ireland & Internationally with a focus on the continued development of the Templeogue Team and our journey.
I’ve worked as a Swim Coach since 1986, when I retired (not that I had achieved anything) from swimming myself and worked as a squad coach with David McCullagh as my mentor. David had been the first Director of Swimming within Swim Ireland and established many of the baseline plans which underpin performance swimming in Ireland today.
I’ve coached athletes to many National Level titles at both Age Group and Open level in Ireland both LC & SC. I’ve worked with many fantastic young Irish Athletes who have also produced Irish Records, predominantly at Junior Level & more recently in 2015 I’ve also been fortunate to coach to podium performance at EYOF (Tblisi 2015), having previously coached and led the team in EYOF (Paris 2003). I’ve placed athletes on to Irish Teams at European Senior SC (2006) & European Junior (2005, 2016, 2017) level and coached at European LC (2006) & European Junior (2005, 2016) myself.
Hopefully my learning in the sport continues and I’ve been fortunate to be a participant on the Sport Ireland Institute, PEP Program, specifically as a PEP Horizon program member 2009 to 2015, and as a Mentor in 2015/2016.
I’m a qualified Swim Ireland Tutor, Level 3 Swim Coach, Level 2 Teacher, Level 2 Team Manager & Qualified as an ASA Club Coach 1991 & ASA Coach in 1993.
