Templeogue Swim TEAM
HISTORY of TEMPLEOGUE SWIM CLUB
Established in 1972 by Fr John Cooper who was a priest in Templeogue College the Club was originally developed for the boys of Templeogue College.
The EARLY YEARS
Post a closure of the facility during the ‘Oil’ Crisis in the 70’s, the club disbanded and was reformed at a later date by former parents of the existing club. At that time the facility was being managed by David McCullagh who became the Head Coach and the club was established in a very similar fashion to it’s current format with boys and girls from the local community involved in the squad.
The club continued to grow throughout the 70’s and 80’s and has been consistent in producing athletes who have performed well at national level but also breaking through to Irish International teams since the club was established. The club has been heavily supported by great committees and also has continued to morph and develop it’s operations over the years.
