Race, Perform, Learn, Adapt, Repeat BETTER in ACTION at #IOSC2017
Last weekend at the @SwimIreland OPEN National Championships #IOSC2017 a TEAM of 13 Athletes from TEMPLEOGUE delivered some superb performances over the 4 day competition. Focus for the event is the continuing development of racing skills, awareness of performance development areas, and the ability to implement and adapt from race to race as required. Well done to the whole TEAM who demonstrated real improvements in these areas throughout the weekend and year to date.
Ellen Walshe (15) WON Gold in 200BF in a World Junior Championship CT, in Indianapolis in August. She was 2nd in 100BF in European Junior (Israel in July) CT & 2 Bronze in 200IM & 400IM, the 400IM was also inside the European Junior CT. She PB’d in 100BF, 200BF, 200IM & She also won the Junior 200BC FINAL also.
Cara Osing (13) won the Junior 100FC in a NEW PB and inside the Consideration time for the European Youth Olympics (EYOF in Hungary), she was 5th in the OPEN final in the 200FC also inside the EYOF Consideration time and was 5th in the 400FC OPEN Final also inside the EYOF Consideration time. She also made finals in the 200BC Junior finishing in 6th place.
Sean McNicholl (15) won the Junior Boys 100FC & 100BF, both in PB’s and both inside the EYOF Times for these events. He also finished 5th in the OPEN Mens 100BC also inside the EYOF Time. Sean also won the Junior 50FC and placed 7th in the Mens OPEN 50BC.
Joe Kenny (15) placed 5th in both Junior 100BS & 200BS Finals and Finn O’Keeffe (15) also made a final in the Junior 50FC in a superb new PB. Other Finalists were Robyn Lynch (15) & Hannah Walshe (14) in the 400IM & 200BF, with Lynch also being reserve for the 100BS & 200BS. Lynch has also posted a time in February inside the EYOF Consideration time for Hungary for July. Alie Martin (16) also qualified for Finals in the Junior 200BC finishing 6th and was reserve for the 50BC in the OPEN event, while also delivering strong swims in 100BC & 200FC.
Leah Martin (13), posting seasons best times in 200BC, 200BS & 100BC & Traolach McKnight (18) produced a seasons best in the 1500FC while Ethan Brady (15) was pleased with his efforts also in the 100BC & 200BC, making reserve for the Junior 200BC Final. Sean Kenny (14) & Isabella Moes (15) gained invaluable experience at their first Senior OPEN LC Championships.
The girls posted a wonderful performance in the Medley Team Relay (Alie Martin, Robyn Lynch, Cara Osing & Ellen Walshe) to take the BRONZE and with all girls still Junior, they’re looking at continuing their progress over the rest of the season.
The Templeogue TEAM have three club athletes based in the Pool in Templeogue who have achieved international representation times for the 2017 Season and one Athlete Sean McNicholl, who trains with Hamilton Aquatics in Dubai, also completes a strong representation from the Local crew.
Next up for the TEAM members is the Schools Interprovincial where Templeogue have 8 members of the team of 40 selected to represent their local Schools in April. Another Group of 12 travel to Ulster Age Groups, while a further 3 athletes are selected for the Leinster Team travelling to Ulster Age Groups also. A Younger group of 22 development athletes travel to New Ross mid month while an Older group of 14 athletes travel to University of Aberdeen LC OPEN at the End of April and the TEAM continues its progress towards the summer events.
