POWER & PODIUM Performances continue in Limerick for TEAM TSC
As the Irish Age Group Division 2 championships continued in UL SPORT in Limerick today the performances of the TEMPLEOGUE SWIM TEAM continued to impress as the team of athletes produced another great day of PB performances and great racing to post big improvement and see podium positions continue to be delivered by the team of 13. The look of determination in this morning’s warmup was evident for ALL to see!!.
The Day started with a strong event for the TEAM as the Boys 400FC produced some huge new personal bests for the boys who raced the event. Traolach McKnight (16) was the fastest boy on the TEAM TSC squad as he delivered a 6+ second PB to place in 8th place in his 16YO age group in a strong swim, while Matthew Parnell (15) posted a 4 second improvement while Greg Sinnott (14) did as McKnight did earlier and knocked 6 seconds of his PB time. Having set the tone of PB’s from the very start of the event, the younger boys on the TEAM produced some further impressive racing as Sean Maguire (13) took a big 8 seconds of his best to take GOLD in the 12/13 yrs age group, while Jamie Flanagan (11) and Ronan Tan (11) were separated by .03 of a second as Tan posted the GOLD medal time and Flanagan finishing in the SILVER medal position.
In the first Individual girls event Megan Culbert (13) delivered a strong PB effort in the 200BC, which was a new event for her and demonstrating how far she has developed her skills to race in multiple new events this season. In the boys 200BC Sean Kenny (11) was back to continue the onslaught on his PB’s as he took 6 seconds off his PB and narrowly missing out on the final, whilst Team mate Ethan Brady (12) also posted an agonising tight result to finish in the 1st reserve place for the final, but with another strong swim under his belt, whilst Greg Sinnott (13) also took over 9 seconds off his PB to qualify as a reserve for the final also.. Like in earlier events Ronan Tan (11) and Jamie Flanagan (11) produced 7 & 10 Second improvements respectively to qualify for the finals in their 11YO age group with both boys racing strongly to see Flanagan take a further 2 second improvement to finish in the BRONZE Medal 3rd place, while Tan finished in 7th overall.
In the final individual events of the Day, Matthew Parnell (15) delivered another step forward with a strong PB in the 200IM, while Alie Martin (13) smashed a massive 14 seconds of her previous PB to qualify as the fastest for the final and then tonight delivered a powerful performance to take a further 2 seconds off her earlier improvement and finish in a commanding GOLD medal swim to win her age group and qualify for the IRISH AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS in the process.
To date the TEAM members have impressed with their performances in the pool and with the final day of racing taking place in Limerick tomorrow, the athletes have also delivered great preparation for the final racing opportunities as they looked positively towards the events in the morning and there was still enough time for a bit of the WORLD CUP.
After Day 3 of racing the TEAM have
44 PB’s, 5 GOLD, 4 SILVER, 9 BRONZE, 2 x 4th, 1 x 5th, 1 x 8th, 16 x TOP 10s
Good luck to ALL on the final day of racing tomorrow!!
