Podiums for Field & Murphy on Day 3 as More Finals & EVERYONE Picking PB’s
Another great (and long) day of racing for TEAM TSC culminated in a superb finals session this evening with two of the TEAMS older members picking up podium placings as both Graham Field (19) & Tiarnan Murphy (19) picked up 2nd & 3rd places in the 200BC with two fine PB swims.
In the first event of the day, John Martin (19) blitzed through to the Semi-Final in the 50BC, where tonight he posted a massive PB to qualify for the final where he delivered another fine swim in one of his less often raced events. The Girls were represented by Dayna Clegg (17) as she posted her first individual swim of the weekend in the sprint BC event.
In the 400FC, Ellen Walshe (11) continued her excellent form for the weekend as she posted a 12 second PB, while Caoilfhinn Tan (13) equalled her PB, Muirin Goulding (14) set a new PB by 4 sec, Jessica Burke (13) by 3 sec and Rebecca Burke (14) by 2 seconds ensuring all girls kicked off their days with some great swims.
In the Boys event Finn O’Keeffe (12) also posted a 4 second improvement as Eoin Feighan (14), Ruairi McCarthy (14) and Sam Cosgrove (14) were also well inside their PB’s, while Jason Cosgrove (16) produced a strong performance having qualified for the event post a bad wrist break earlier in the year & Stephen Herlihy (14) was delighted with his impressive PB as he and Tom Giblin (14) both delivered new PB swims. Cathal Tan (15) continued his excellent weekend with a great PB in his event as Jonah Clegg (16) posted a fine 4 second PB while Graham Field (19) & Tiarnan Murphy (19) posted strong heat swims, with Murphy further improving on his heat swims with a 9th place finish in the Final this evening albeit outside his lifetime best swim.
In the Girls 100BF Ellen Walshe (11) smashed her PB to get to the final, a year out of age where tonight she finished in 7th place overall and the 3rd fastest 11yr old on the day. In the Boys 100BF Tom Giblin (14) was outside his lifetime best, while John Martin (19) qualified for the ‘B’ Final this evening finishing in 3rd place in a tight finish.
In one of the largest events of the weekend Templeogue were well represented in the 200BC as Caoilfhinn Tan (13) & Muirin Goulding (14) posted more PB’s for the weekend, while Rebecca Burke (14) delivered the 2nd best swim of her career in this event, while sister Jessica Burke (13) delivered a strong heat swim to equal her best ever and qualify for the Final, where she finished in 9th place overall but as 5th fastest 13yr old on the day. In the womens event Dayna Clegg (17) posted a good heat swim to qualify for the ‘B’Final where she finished in 5th place this evening.
The nights activities finished with some superb Relay swims as younger girls Caoilfhinn Tan (13), Jessica Burke (13), Ellen Walshe (11) & Rebecca Burke (14) finished in 7th in their age group as the older men of Graham Field (19), John Martin (19) & Tiarnan Murphy (19) were helped by Jonah Clegg (16) to a 9th place finish in their event, while a last minute change of personnel through injury & some adaptable switching of individual strokes saw Stephen Herlihy (14), Cathal Tan (15) & Ruairi McCarthy (14) joined forces with a visiting Matthew Parnell (14) to post a great result in the younger boys event.
Day 3 produced some excellent swims in a long day of racing and the TEAM continues to enjoy great success as they look forward to the last day of the meet tomorrow. Many thanks to senior Athlete supporters from the squad for their attendance to support the team this evening.
