The Final Day of the Irish NATIONAL Youth & OPEN Championships finished today at the National AQUATIC Centre and the TEMPLEOGUE Swim Club athletes further delivered a set of results which have allowed them have some real pride in their efforts this weekend.

The first event of the day saw the 200IM for both Men and Women and just as the earlier days of the meet, TEMPLEOGUE athletes did a great job with Niamh Bryson, Alison O’Driscoll, Dayna Clegg and Ciara Robinson ALL finishing the event  with top 10 Times in the 15Yr old competition.  Bryson, Clegg and Robinson returned for finals this evening with Clegg ensuring her third National Title was secured with a Gold medal performance of 2:28.55, Bryson in 2nd place with 2:29.56, while Robinson demolished her PB in the final to finish as the 6th fastest Irish Athlete.  In the boys event Graham Field delivered a strong heat swim to get back int he Final finishing as the 6th fastest Irish athlete in the 16Yrs competition.

In the 50M Sprint FC event, the girls were lead off by Eva Barrett, Alison O’Driscoll and Dayna Clegg with some strong swims, while Grace Branagan and Niamh Murphy swam to semi-final placings in the evening session.  Branagan, finished strongly in a tough field but Murphy qualified for the final as the fastest Irish qualifier.  We were not to be disappointed as Murphy ended the evenings activity finishing as the IRISH Senior Title holder in her favoured event.

In the Mens sprint event John Martin, Tiaran Murphy and Salim Sebaoui produced good swims with Martin qualifying for the Semi-Final and again swam to the same result as the morning but failing to qualify for the Final in a field which included former World Record holder Duje Draganja from Croatia, and in a final which produced two athletes who swam sub 23 seconds for the swim.

In the Girls 200BS, Niamh Bryson again showed her strength across the events with a dominant performance in the heats and finals of the 15Yrs event with another GOLD medal performance in this evenings final, completing a double for her in the 100 and 200 Breastroke events.

The evening was finished in style as the TEAM members supported Anne-Marie Finn and Tiarnan Murphy deliver a double GOLD performance in the distance events with two JUNIOR Titles and two HUGE PB’s in the 800FC and 1500FC.  Both Athletes have now won their first IRISH Titles in their careers.
