IRISH Age Groups Division 2 – Day 2 brings some more GREAT Swims
What a day for the TEAM on Day 2. After an excellent first day of competition, the TEAM TSC team continued to impress on the second day of the meet. With a focus on PB’s and putting together great races, Coach Colm O’Brien was delighted with the efforts of the TEAM.
The Under 12 girls were extremely happy with PB swims in the 400FC, with Jessica Burke delivering a 6 second PB to finish in 8th place, whilst Caoilfhinn Tan also delivered a massive 28 second PB in her event. Unfortunately after an overnight illness Aisling Field didn’t compete in her 400FC. The Girls followed up with strong PB’s in the 100BF with Jessica Burke and Muirin Goulding delivering strong swims with Burke managing to make the Final and Goulding finishing as reserve for the event. In the evening final Jessica had another great PB swim to finish in 8th place. Jessica continued her busy schedule of events for the weekend with another strong swim in the 200BS finishing as a reserve for the final. In the boys event, Cathal Tan (13yrs) delivered a great PB to qualify in 4th place for the final, returning this evening to demolish his heat swim and deliver himself another big PB and a bronze medal. Arun Ramkaun (15Yrs) had comfortably qualified fastest for the final in the heats in a strong PB for him, and returned this evening in the finals to further better his heat swim and take the gold medal, his third of the weekend.
The girls Relay U12 delivered an exquisite performance to collect the silver medal, narrowly being beaten by 0.2 to the gold position. Well done to Muirin Goulding, Jessica Burke, Caolifhinn Tan & Aisling Field on their performance.
Later in the session today, The U12 Girls all had PB’s in the 100FC, but failed to make it back for the finals in the sprint event. The boys collected some massive PB’s in the 100FC, with Stephen Herlihy surpassing his previous best with an excellent swim in the heats to qualify himself for the final, where he finished 5th with a marginal improvement on his heat swim. Cathal Tan, after a solid heat swim swam an excellent final and delivered a massive PB but was narrowly beaten to the podium by 0.2. Nonetheless delighted with his finals sessions and two very big PB’s for the day. After qualifying in 2nd for the final, Arun Ramkaun was unfortunately disqualified in the final having moved on the block.
Tomorrow sees the last day of the meet, and some additional swimmers joining the TEAM for the last day of the meet. WE wish you ALL well.
